ABOUT ME

WHO am I?

With decades of experience in multiple sectors and countries, and all aspects of business strategy, I consider myself to be a commercially focused people professional. I like to really get to know my clients during the process in order to better understand their specific needs and wants. My specific niche is in the integration of people strategy into business strategy, something hugely important to the success of your business.

My past clients and employers include NCC Group, Johnson & Johnson, The Very Group, Telefonica Research, Telefonica O2, Co-operative Financial Services, Royal Liver Assurance and Balfour Beatty Power. I have lived and worked outside of the UK, and led global teams in a number of sectors.

I am CIPD qualified in Human Resources Management, and qualifications from Liverpool John Moores University in HR, Business Studies, and Business Administration. I am a complete skilled/strategic negotiator (Gap Negotiation, Professor Gavin Kennedy) and trained mediator (Pragmatism). I’ve also worked with a number of startups over the years, including those within Telefonica’s Wayra start-up incubator, as a mentor, covering products associated with gamification, learning and psychometric assessments. I continue to work with start up and scale up organisations in a professional and personal capacity.

When away from my desk, I enjoy having 5 grown up children and a granddaughter, keeping active to stay fit though hiking and training, supporting my football team Chelsea, and spending time with our dogs. Theatre and live music events fill up my diary, and as someone once said “I will listen to anything anyone has taken the trouble to produce”. (That was Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols). My wife Su and I love to travel and have an ever increasing list of target destinations to work through.
